I didn't enjoy this season as much as the previous one. The episode had a nonsensical, power of friendship and love type theme which made cringe. My favourites scene of this whole season is when he accurately described the green haired girl; don't know why but I don't like her or any other of the poorly depicted women in this anime.

Imperial • 1 year ago

Funny how she has the opposite effect on me; I like her the way she is.
Feeling how desire awakens to shield her XD

Dx • 1 year ago

I get the same feeling. I think its the unrealistically clingy obsessed kinda vibe but yea this is nothing like s1.

Mauphillips • 1 year ago

Let's hope the new season will give us more action.

Mæx Wellington • 9 months ago

This kinda felt more like an OVA or an arc or something, but I think the purpose for this was less about the power of friendship and more about redemption and accepting one's past. I kinda think of it as the 5 stages of grief, where Season 1 was Naofumi denying the world, unlocking the cursed shield by becoming wrathful, and ending with him still bargaining with how much of the curse he can use all the while being depressed for all he has lived through. From what I hear, each weapon has a curse and might follow the same arc of needing to overcome them if one hopes to defeat the waves. Naofumi can now guide the others, and each one might replace their curses with the powers of a divine beast

This season repeated those pains in a passive way allowing him to understand how to achieve the acceptance needed to overcome the curse and possibly unlock even more powers.

I'm glad the story continues i'm loving this.Kyo figured out that there's going to be something big and really bad coming in the future when the waves hit which he slightly hinted at just before he died maybe out of spite. I wonder just how bad that something is and if Naofumi and the others heard what he said while blasting him into bits. I can' wait to find out whats going too happen next.

Maverick • 1 year ago

The LN and Manga has more depth compared to this rushed adaptation

OJ ROTEX • 1 year ago

In the LN after Kyo died Raphtalia used her vassel weapon to destroy Kyo's soul so that he wouldn't be reborn. (It's been a year since I read it and it was in volume 8 if I remembered right, so my information may be off a little bit that's what happened)

“Bow hero's pants" Damm😂😂😂

OJ ROTEX • 1 year ago

😂😂😂 my guess is that what even the fans of the show taught about Rishia

Kimmiepickachu • 1 year ago

If there was anime story where I wish would deviate from the original manga, it would be the story of Itsuki and Rishia. She didn't deny wanting to get into the bow hero's pants 😅 plus Itsuki faint smiles give me some hope.

Roronoa05 • 1 year ago

Nah , I wanted him to go berserk but they ended it without any hype, i really miss old naofumi , kinda disappointed with this whole season 😔

My thoughts exactly 😞

ConfusedBirds • 1 year ago

Man I just wanted to watch him finally go feral with the damn dragon and fight that guy. This power of friendship shit is so boring to watch. This whole season has been so lackluster.

ConfusedBirds • 1 year ago

Wrote this before I even finished the episode and it was even more disappointing! After all these episodes with that guy, they didn't even fight? Killed in one blast. And then everyone is all best friends even though L'arc and the others tried to kill them and we never really got a serious talk between the two to settle that. We went from "this is a truce and we'll kill each other when he's defeated" to "we're best friends who are going to have a banquet and go fishing!". This season was nothing like the first one and I really hope the third is better, if there is a third after this trainwreck. The first season had great characters who we got to really know about and love, and serious fights, and good plotlines. All we had here was a tortoise that was dragged on for far too long and nothing interesting even happened then, a crazy guy who was finally just killed in one hit, boring new part members with no real characterization to them to make you like them or want to see them, and the power of friendship solving everything with no issues. All I wanted was a single gritty fight with some real emotion like the first season but it seems that was asking too much.

Ok, honest review time. First, the obvious. Naofumi's VA changed. I mean, it makes sense, after all the original one for the dub died.

Now that we have that out of the way, it's time for me to give my opinion on the season as a whole. This could have very easily been doubled in length, and I would have honestly preferred it that way. The pacing was frankly dizzying, and left little to no room for thought, contemplation, character development, etc. One example I have of wanting something like that is this. Raphtalia became the wielder of the katana vassal weapon, right? What exactly does that mean for these worlds? After all, she is from a completely different world. We can speculate about this all we want, but we will likely never get a definitive answer from the anime. If the creators had put just a bit of thought into structuring, they would likely realize a 24 episode second season would be the only real move.

Would you like an example of a creator wanting to put too much content into a single thing, and ultimately deciding to extend it to multiple installments? Star Wars. George Lucas had WAY too much content he wanted to squeeze into A New Hope, but realized it would take away from the enjoyment of his precious movie. With this, he decided he would give the first movie a semi-satisfying ending, just in case it bombed at the box office, and waited to see if there was demand for his next project in order to hit all the beats he originally wanted.

Here's the thing. This is the second season of a show that did really well after its first season. The demand is there, so just extend the season. 24 episode seasons exist in plenty of other shows, including anime, so it's not like this is an unheard of concept. What they did here could easily kill any future this franchise had in this storytelling medium.

Pfft... endings... well, I guess the only real gripe I had with this season was the pacing and hollowing out of the main cast. Crap, I forgot to touch on that point. Ah, whatever. This post is getting long anyway. Well, thanks for coming to my TED Talk, I guess.

Thanks so much for this input. However I raise this counterpoint. Would you rather have an almost entirely incomplete product on release date, or have it delayed for a while and get a 100% complete (or damn near close to it) product. If crunch/release date culture is different in Japan, then it makes sense why it was released as such.

I see your point, but if it were up to me, I would pull an "AOT: Final Season" cut the season into multiple parts. Same work load, more spread out, more profits.

LesK • 9 months ago

this statement is entirely fallacious and incorrect. during covid, ZERO anime were entirely canceled. they were ALL delayed while the anime studios developed work from home technology. even in the past 4 months covid kept hitting Chinese outsourcing studios as well as other studios in Asia. this caused more than one show to be delayed and sent into episode reruns instead of new weekly released episodes. once an anime is fully funded it is VERY hard to get it canceled, only shows like Marchen Madchen which have studios that ENTIRELY violate their contracts and fail to deliver episodes on time or within acceptable quality standards get canned. sure, ratings matter... but streaming inside Japan and internationally make more money than broadcast TV sales inside Japan.

LesK • 9 months ago

apparently, you are entirely uneducated or informed about the history of S2. it was supposed to be released in Japan during October 2021. but in JULY of that year a big announcement came, and the premier month was moved to APRIL. so, 3 months before the original premier it was delayed a FURTHER SIX MONTHS... therefore a grand total of a 9-month delay was added.

additionally, season 2 and season 3 were initially announced to be in development SIMULTANEOUSLY during a press conference. that means your statement "but after that Covid happened. they will not go on with a season 3 if season is badly received. They need to make money more then ever." was entirely wrong as well. the entire pair of seasons was FULLY FUNDED before S2 was ever released. proof of point? S3 will be released in October 2023.

unless you are a light novel reader, you don't have a clue what content was cut, moved around in the sequence of events, or was downplayed to a minor plot-point in the anime.

Sylver • 9 months ago

apparently, you are entirely oblivious to the history of season 2...they were hit hard on social media and clearly said if the season was badly received, there would probably not be another one. Even if it was developed SIMULTANEOUSLY!!!, it doesn't mean it will stay that way. Money are invested in a studio, not an anime. If an anime is badly received, they can easily move the money to another anime made by the studio. Was it something they said to manipulate the audience? maybe nut it doesn't mean the guy was UNINFORMED!!!! or UNEDUCATED!!!

Why do you comment on discussion many months old without knowing what led to that discussion? Old elitist prick are always a sight to behold.

Anyway, a 40 years old + who still like anime should be more respectful...to a younger audience...much younger... maybe you should return to your hentai to calm a little.

LesK • 9 months ago

wow, entitled moron sighted. i WATCHED S2 while it was airing and some of the pricks who hopped OFF the bandwagon to bitch about S2 were the ones CROWING that S1 was so excellent. if you can't support a franchise THROUGH THE PROBLEMS you don't deserve to have your opinions validated by even being read. S2 wasn't that bad, i've seen worse shows with worse SERIES of sequels. source purists that didn't gripe about the changes between the LN and S1 thought they could get their 'cred' back by harping on what was wrong with S2 as well.

you don't know how anime financing works either. as i said before, anime in Japan does NOT get canceled easily. Spring 2023 should have taught you that! more than one show was delayed and had to air reruns of the old episodes until the new ones were completed.

also, anybody who doesn't have 10+ years of anime experience needs to RESPECT their elders and their experiences. i NEVER diss or insult anyone unless they BLATANTLY deserve it, like your comments do. you think episodes that were made AT THE SAME TIME would NOT be aired at all? that is an ENTIRE waste of effort by the staff and actors and actresses as well as a waste of money! that makes ZERO financial sense at all! also, you don't know how a contract works either. moving money meant to pay for one project to another? THAT IS ILLEGAL! you get paid to build a house but suddenly you move that money to build a shopping mall? young ignorant little kids are a dime a dozen, get some experience under your belt post-haste.

also, don't bother replying... you'll be blocked after this little temper tantrum of yours. one response is all you are worth.

Miliam • 9 months ago

"entitled moron"
that's projection

'anime in Japan does NOT get canceled easily"
so...that mean they get cancelled and thus his opinion, coming from a source was valid at the time.

They weren't made SIMULTANEOUSLY!! you made it up. The studio was paid to do 2 seasons. They did 1 that was very difficult due to time issue(Covid), took a break(implement new way to work efficiently and sleep over the crazy hour they had to work, Covid) before starting the other one.

RESPECT IS EARNED, NOT GIVEN BECAUSE YOU ARE AN OLD GUY. For what I saw, you aren't worth it. Experience in seeing anime mean nothing. It doesn't mean you know the industry...it just mean you still like children show, which is weird at best.

"you get paid to build a house but suddenly you move that money to build a shopping mall?"

Seriously? you believe it's a valid point?
A studio is paid for their time. Once paid, if their time on a project doesn't have the expected return, the investor can ask to move the money to a better project. Maybe you should educate yourself a little and read a studio contract? It's the same freaking house...your stupid point should be :" when you buy a house, you can still change thing while they are building it."

That's what happen with man-child, they are sooooo sure they know everything but the reality is they are still a child. You being here is proof of it. Since 1990...that mean you are at least 40-45 if you started at 10-15. This is sad...

My suggestion is...Return to whatever subreddit you came from. Or Hentai Stream since it is a most frequented of yours, getting hard on children.

also, don't bother replying. I will not block you. Instead, I will let people see who you are...replying and blocking before getting a reply like a little coward that fear an answer...Accusing someone of temper tantrum while doing the same.

one last thought before i do move on, your Disqus activities are set to Private. which is of course your personal choice. but, Mine are set to Public for a reason. :) because no matter where i go or whom i interact with on Disqus... i am proudly open about where i go on Disqus and what i have to say does not need to be hidden wherever i may be saying it.

LesK • 9 months ago

filth filth and more filth. wow. just butt in and spew some disgusting lies! nope, hentai stream is NOT my most frequented Disqus site. gogo, solarmovie, and fmovies are. i like hentai, so what? folks like live action porn too, i just prefer hentai over it. it is part of my hobby.

how is it sad that i've enjoyed anime for 30 years? do you think folks in Japan my age that enjoy anime have sad lives? how about folks from around the world? how old is too old for anime by your metric? 10? 15? 20? i've met online only 5 other otaku as old or older than me... one fellow who was lucky enough to watch Astro Boy LIVE on rabbit ears attached to his black and white TV while he was stationed in Japan with the US Navy. is HE too old to still enjoy anime today? i've got three co-workers who also like anime. one lady in her early 30's, one guy in his later 20's, and a guy that just graduated high school last month. which one of us should stop watching anime because we're too old for it? what about the josei and seinen manga and novels that get anime adaptations? those PUBLICATIONS in Japan are for those 17 and older! why would they be published and getting anime adaptations if anime is "it just mean you still like children show, which is weird at best." and no, i do NOT watch kids' anime. i enjoyed Pokemon for a short time when it first came on TV in the US but... i doubt i watched more than 20-40 hours' worth of episodes before i stopped. it just wasn't that interesting to me. i think Digimon, Shaman King (the remake not the first version), and YuGiOh are the three 'youngest demographic group targeted' shows i've ever watched. i usually watch shonen and shojo demographics shows, plus the seinen and josei ones too.

a baseline level of manners and ettiquette is quite necessary for interactions in human society. so a modicum of respect to one's elders should be an easy task. one which both of you have failed at utterly. i actually do know the industry because i've read up on it for decades now. i'm not just some person watching it for entertainment, this is my primary hobby for multiple decades.

yes that's a valid point, contracts are written up with specifics like that in mind. a production committee is investing a certain amount into a certain studio for a certain project. if that project is delivered according to the terms of the contracts, but it is a flop in the ratings that's the investors' loss. but if the project entirely FAILS (or fails in some manner) that is a whole other matter entirely and the investors have their contracts to gain back some of their money. they're not going to let the studio KEEP the money and move it to something else if the studio FAILS to deliver on their obligations. also, if the studio misappropriates funds THAT IS FRAUD! and not only a civil violation but a CRIMINAL violation as well.

actually the 2nd and 3rd seasons were announced simultaneously, which means the production of both seasons could EASILY have started simultaneously as well. certain elements of course, not everything all at once.

cowardice? how am i a coward when i do not allow garbage to appear in my Disqus notifications and comments feeds? if somebody says something offensive, i just generally report them, then block them without a replay and go about my day. when somebody says something with errors i endeavor to correct them and assist them with my knowledge and experience. if the reply to my efforts is like yours? that's one more poor misguided person who is attempting to inflate their own ego by denigrating insulting etc. myself. i won't pander to their desire for self-aggrandizement beyond what i'm interested in spending my time on.

you have been blocked now, since i have given my response and wish no further contact with you. i do hope you will have a much more pleasant day than apparently you were having when you wrote that reply to me. :)

Mélanie • 9 months ago

liking action porn is fine, hentai is children porn...for a 40-50 years old to like that...let just say there is a name for that. Deflect all you want, it doesn't change that.
